Manage members

Change a teammate's role or remove someone from your Servor team, and understand how member changes affect seats, billing and encrypted access.

Teams change over time. This page shows how to change a teammate's role and how to remove someone from your Servor team, plus what happens to their access and your bill when you do.

Who can manage members

Managing members is an admin action. Owners and admins can change roles and remove people; members and viewers cannot. See Roles and permissions.

Change someone's role

Promote a member to admin, drop an admin to viewer, or anything in between — role changes take effect immediately.

Open team settings

Go to Settings → Team (or Members) to see everyone on the team. Open team settings in Servor

Pick a new role

Find the person in the list and choose a new roleviewer, member, admin or owner.

Confirm

The change applies right away. The next time that person loads Servor, their permissions match the new role.

Role changes can affect your bill

Moving someone between a free and a paid role can change how many seats you use. Servor updates your subscription and emails the payer. See Seats and billing.

Promoting a viewer to a working role

Viewers have read-only access and never unlock a vault. When you promote a viewer to member, admin or owner, they'll set their own vault passphrase and then need encrypted access granted before they can run commands. This works exactly like a new invite: it's instant if a teammate with an unlocked vault is online, otherwise they'll see the "waiting for a teammate to come online" screen until someone unlocks. The fix is the same — have any teammate unlock their vault.

Transfer ownership

Only an owner can hand ownership to someone else. Promote the target teammate to owner from the members list; ownership and billing responsibility move with the role. Keep at least one owner on every team.

Remove a member

Removing someone revokes their access immediately.

Open the members list

Go to Settings → Team.

Remove the person

Use the remove action next to their name and confirm.

Check your seats

If they held a paid seat, your subscription is updated and the payer is emailed. Review Seats and billing if you want to reduce your seat count afterward.

Removal is immediate

A removed person loses access to the team's servers, monitors, status pages and command history right away. Their past actions stay in the audit log, but they can no longer sign in to the team. To bring them back later, invite them again.

Frequently asked

Does removing someone delete their command history?

No. Commands they ran stay in the searchable command history and the audit trail. Removing a person only revokes their access going forward.

Can I remove the owner?

Not directly. Ownership must first be transferred to someone else; then the former owner can be removed like any other member.

Someone left the company — what's the fastest safe cleanup?

Remove them from Settings → Team. That instantly cuts their access. If they had API tokens, revoke those too, since tokens are independent of team membership. Revoke API tokens in Servor
