How Servor AI credits work — the copilot bills on the real token cost of each conversation. See your usage and top up credits in billing.
The AI copilot runs on credits. Every session — whether you type your own prompt or launch a recipe — consumes credits based on the real token cost of the conversation. This page explains what that means, where to watch your usage, and how to keep credits topped up.
How credits are billed
Credits are billed on the actual token cost of each copilot conversation — the text you send, the context the copilot reads, and the responses it generates. There's no flat per-message fee: a short "is nginx running?" costs far less than a long, multi-step investigation that reads large logs.
A few things that affect what a session costs:
- Length of the conversation — more back-and-forth means more tokens.
- How much output the copilot reads — commands that return large logs or long file contents add context, and context is tokens.
- The depth of the task — a quick check is cheap; a full security audit that walks through many commands is more.
Keep sessions focused to spend less
Start a fresh session for a new task rather than piling everything into one long conversation, and use Ask mode for quick questions. A focused session carries less context, so it costs fewer credits.
Where to see your usage
Your credit balance and AI usage live in billing, under Settings → Billing. From there you can check how many credits you have left and review consumption over time. Team activity, including who ran what, is also visible in the audit log.
Topping up credits
When credits run low, buy a top-up package to add more — top up credits in Servor. Top-ups are covered in detail — including who gets billed and how packages work — in Credits and top-ups.
Credits vs. your plan
Credits pay for AI usage specifically. Your plan sets your overall limits (servers, monitors, status pages, API access and AI), while credits are the metered fuel the copilot burns as you use it. The two work together.
Running out of credits
If your balance hits zero, the copilot stops running new sessions until you top up. Everything else in Servor keeps working — your servers stay connected, monitors keep checking, the web terminal and manual commands still run. Only the AI copilot pauses.
