Invite teammates
Invite a teammate to your Servor team, walk through the join flow, and unlock encrypted access faster when someone is waiting to come online.
Bring the rest of your team into Servor so everyone can watch the same servers, share status pages and respond to incidents together. This page covers sending an invite, what the new member does to join, and how the "waiting for a teammate to come online" screen works — plus the one trick that clears it in seconds.
Who can invite
Inviting people is an admin action. Owners and admins can send invites; members and viewers cannot. See Roles and permissions.
Send an invite
Open team settings
Go to Settings → Team (or Members). You'll see everyone currently on the team and any pending invites. Open team settings in Servor
Add the person
Enter their email address and pick the role they should have — viewer, member, admin or owner. Start people at the lowest role that lets them do their job; you can change it later.
Send the invitation
Servor emails them an invite link. The invite shows up as pending in your members list until they accept.
Adding a member can change your bill
Servor is billed per seat, so inviting someone who takes a paid seat updates your subscription and emails the payer. Review Seats and billing before adding people on a paid plan.
What the new teammate does
The person you invited clicks the link in their email and signs in (or creates their account). Once they accept, they're on the team with the role you chose.
If you invited them as a viewer, they're done — viewers have read-only access everywhere and never need to unlock a vault. If you invited them as a member, admin or owner, they'll set their own vault passphrase and then need encrypted access to be granted before they can run commands, open the terminal or use the AI copilot.
The "waiting for a teammate to come online" screen
Sensitive data in Servor is encrypted, and a new member's access to it has to be granted by someone who already has it. Here's how that plays out:
- If a teammate with an unlocked vault is online, access is granted instantly and the new member can start working right away.
- If nobody with an unlocked vault is online, the new member sees a "waiting for a teammate to come online" screen. This is normal — nothing is broken and there's nothing to fix.
Access unlocks automatically the moment any teammate unlocks their vault. The new member doesn't have to refresh or re-invite anyone; the screen clears on its own.
Speed it up
Waiting on that screen? Ask any teammate who's around to open Servor and unlock their vault — entering their passphrase is enough. As soon as they do, the new member's access is granted and the waiting screen disappears. It usually takes seconds.
Troubleshooting
- The invite email never arrived. Check spam, then resend it from Settings → Team. Make sure the email address is spelled correctly.
- The teammate accepted but is stuck on the waiting screen. Someone with an unlocked vault needs to be online. Have any existing member unlock their vault — access is granted automatically after that.
- They can sign in but can't run commands. Their vault is probably locked, or encrypted access hasn't been granted yet. Both are covered above; unlocking a teammate's vault resolves the second case.
